Be The Perfect Footballing Competitor

If you want to get in shape, you've got to have the right type of workout. For sports, then you need something a bit more sport specific. You've got to work on the moves that are most important to the sport that you're playing. For soccer, that means doing some specific workouts that are essential to becoming a better player.

Something people don't seem to understand is just how vital fitness is. Talent can get you so far, but that's not going to carry you all the way. If you're not in shape, then you're not going to be able to get the job done. Hence why you need to work on your cardio.

There are two things you need to do here. The first is interval training. That will get your heart in shape for the quick sprints, and fast recovery that footballers need to excel at their sport.

But you also need to make sure you can run a long distance as well. The average soccer player is going to run 4 or more miles per match. That's a lot of mileage, and you've got to train for that by going through the right exercises.

Of course, you've also got to realize that targeting specific things, like Plyometrics is vital as well. This is working out that influences your body's ability to change direction quickly, by building up muscles in important joints.

Through plyometrics you can limit the damage that would be caused by sudden jarring of the body. Through these workouts, you can ensure that you don't end up tearing your knees up, or any other part of your body for that matter.

Don't forget to weight train though either. Especially if you're an attacker, you don't want to be manhandled. You still need to build up your upper body, and keep yourself plenty strong.

From there it's all about fine tuning the basics as well. Passing drills, as well as running drills are important so that you can get used to the ball. Muscle memory is the key to ensuring you can do everything perfectly, each time of asking.
